2 shot to death, one during chase on Loch Raven

The city added two more names to its homicide list last night, including that of a man shot to death yesterday during a Northeast Baltimore car chase that ended with the dying man's car crashing into a light pole in front of the emergency room at Good Samaritan Hospital, police said.

A 34-year-old woman was fatally shot at a South Baltimore building, police said.

In the first incident, witnesses said, two cars were involved in a chase on Loch Raven Boulevard about 7 p.m. The chase continued on the road toward the emergency room of the hospital, in the 5600 block of Loch Raven, police said.

One of the cars pulled alongside the other, and one of the two men inside fired several shots, police said. The other car smashed into the light pole, and its driver, Charles Edward Ellis Sr., 42, the was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives said they were also looking for suspects in the slaying in the 3900 block of Pascal Ave. in South Baltimore. The victim, whose name was not released, was found in the hallway of the residential building, police said.
