May 29, 1994

Marching units, floats, bands and other groups wishing to participate in the 40th Annual Bel Air Independence Day Parade must submit their applications by Wednesday to the Independence Day Committee, P.O. Box 724, Bel Air 21014. Forms are available at the Bel Air Town Hall.

More than 50,000 spectators are expected to watch the parade as it winds through downtown Bel Air on July 4.

Daylong activities of the town's 40th celebration of the nation's birthday also include a pancake breakfast, model car race, frog jumping contest, turtle derby, hamster race and fireworks.

Companies and other groups interested in sponsoring parade entries, fireworks and other event-related expenses should notify officials by Wednesday. In exchange, the sponsors' names will be printed in the Independence Day program and on parade banners.

Those who can't donate a corporate sponsorship but would like to contribute should make their tax-deductible donation by June 10.

Sponsorships and contributions fund the bulk of the $40,000 needed to put on the all-day event.
