Vacation Nightmares

May 29, 1994

Remember the year your summer vacation turned into a holiday horror?

Did you take an ocean cruise but forget to get one of those ear patches to prevent motion sickness and then have to spend six days leaning over the side of the ship?

Did you visit the fogbound coast of Maine but it was so fogbound you actually spent the whole two weeks in Newfoundland?

Did you go to Disney World but couldn't sleep because there was a mouse in your hotel room and his name wasn't Mickey?

Did you go skiing in Vail but get stuck halfway down a slope because the July snowfall just wasn't what you expected?

Are the words vacation and nightmare too closely connected in your memory?

Then Sun Magazine wants to hear from you. Yes, we're looking for horror stories from the land of vacation, true recollections of those botched trips away from home where, instead of recharging your batteries, you ended up blowing several fuses. Send us your anecdotes by June 13.

Entries should be typewritten, double-spaced, on a single sheet of paper. Send a relevant photograph if available. Include your name, address and daytime phone number. The stories we deem the best will be published in late July or early August. Only two stories per person will be accepted. No submissions will be returned.

Send entries to: Vacation Nightmares, Sun Magazine, 501 N. Calvert St., Baltimore, Md. 21278.
