The arresting officers searched Mr. Fitzpatrick and found a pipe containing a residue that tests determined to be marijuana.

Truck hits teens; driver is charged

County police charged a 17-year-old youth with six traffic violations after he lost control of the 1994 Chevy S-10 he was driving and ran into two teen-agers on Aquahart Road Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

Police did not release the driver's name because he is a juvenile. They said Carrie Sue Crabtree, 15, of Severn, and David Smith, 14, of Glen Burnie, were treated for multiple injuries at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center and later released, police said.

Kimberly Peppler, 21, of Glen Burnie, a passenger in the Chevy, received head and neck injuries in the accident, police said. She was treated at North Arundel Hospital and later released.

The incident happened shortly before 5 p.m. as the juvenile drove the Chevy west on Aquahart Road near Somerset Drive, police said. The youth told police the cast he had on his right foot and leg became wedged in the accelerator.

He lost control of the truck when he tried to free his leg, said Officer Randy Bell, police spokesman. The truck veered onto the sidewalk and hit the two teens, police said.
