Bicycle registration program designed to cut down on thefts

The county Police Department will have a Summer Bicycle Registration Program from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 28 at the B&A Trail Ranger's Station at Earleigh Heights Road, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 4 at Downs Park's Ranger Station at the end of Mountain Road.

The program is designed to cut down on the bicycle thefts that increase during the summer months.

Bicycles will be marked with the owner's Maryland driver's license number, which will be registered in the Anne Arundel County Police Department's computer.

Registration also will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 25 at Downs Park's Ranger Station, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 11 at the B&A Trail Ranger's Station.
