May 25, 1994

Chris Phillips of the Village of Oakland Mills and Erna Bunn and Pastor H. Gerard Knoche of Allview Estates have been named by New Hope Lutheran Church as official voting members for the 1994 Delaware-Maryland Synod Assembly on June 10-12 at Mount Saint Mary's College in Emmitsburg.

Along with about 500 other voting members and 150 visitors, they will spend the three days in business meetings, worship events and fellowship centering on the theme, "Born Anew To a Living Hope."

Members will also act on a vision statement, setting the synod's goals for the next several years.

The synod is one of 65 geographical units within the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the fifth largest Protestant denomination in the country.

Within Delaware and Maryland there are about 98,000 members in 190 congregations.

New Hope Lutheran Church worships a contemporary service at 8:45 a.m. and a traditional service at 11 a.m. Sundays at 8575 Guilford Road.
