Students place first in creation of play

St. Vincent Pallotti High School's Odyssey of the Mind team took first place recently in the Central Regional Competition, Division III.

The five-member team had to create and present a scene from Homer's play "Iliad" and link it to a real 20th century event. Pallotti's team chose the death of Hector in the play and the murder of Martin Luther King Jr. The connecting theme for their piece was "defending his country with words, not weapons."

The students created the art work and original music as well as wrote and performed their play. Travis Timmons, won a special certificate for creativity. Other team members were Jeremy Rheam, Marie Foty, Heidi Peterson and Tina Khair.
