New positions

* Wayne, a division of Dresser Industries based in Salisbury, named Francis D. Desmone vice president of Human Resources.

Poly-Seal Corporation selected William J. Herdrich as executive vice president and general manager.

Greenmount Moving & Storage announced the appointment of Jim McCormack to vice president, sales and marketing for its Southeast operations. He will be based in the company's Atlanta offices.

Group 1 Software chose Victor Forman to the newly created position of vice president for postal affairs.

Papier Interiors and Design Group named Anne Yarbrough Gurbel as a designer.

* BGE, the Baltimore Gas & Electric Co., appointed Nancy Caplan and Charlie Frankin as representatives in the public information unit and named Harvey J. Reed manager for system planning and support.

Harbor Court Hotel announced that Renee Lane has been chosen as the resident manager.

* WMAR-TV named Robert W. Brockmeyer as production editor.

TeamPerfect of Columbia chose Deborah Bach as national communications director.

* Better Business Bureau, Greater Maryland, appointed Amy C. Lavsa advertising review manager.

* Gray Kirk/VanSant has selected Elizabeth Nelson Krouse as a senior account executive.

* Forms One named Stacey Felsen Grossfeld to head its advertising specialties division.

* Fidelity & Deposit Companies promoted Robert J. Patterson to assistant vice president.

Legal and insurance

* State Farm Insurance selected Douglas G. Eaton regional vice president. He will operate from the Seaboard Regional Office in Frederick.

* Murphy & Dittenhafer Architects appointed Edward J. Andrews as an architectural designer.

McCrone Inc., an Annapolis-based engineering and consultant firm, announced the selection of John A. Blondell and Stephen E. Putscher as project engineers.

Health care

* Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions appointed Joseph R. Coppola chief of corporate security, who has named the following directors of security: Thomas W. Davis Jr., Johns Hopkins Hospital; William H. McLean, JHU East Baltimore campus and Kennedy Krieger Institute; Harry J. Koffenberger, external security services, and Ruth A. LaFontaine, support services.

Potomac Medical Services Corp, a Chesapeake Health Plan subsidiary, announced the selection of Gloria Pilgrim as vice president of development.

Mercy Ventures, unit of the Mercy Medical Center, has chosen Bernard F. Chell as director of physician business services.
