Atholton shuts down Lackey

Jamie Burford drove in three runs and Dan Keyser pitched a complete-game seven-hitter, leading No. 13 and fourth-seed Atholton to a 18-0 victory over third-seed Lackey, in the state 2A South Regional championship game at White Plains Regional Park yesterday.

The Raiders built a 12-0 lead after three innings, then added six more in the top of seventh.

Burford highlighted the rally with a two-run triple. Burford finished 2-for-4, leading a 14-hit attack.

Brandon Eierman went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs for Atholton. Derek Schnieder hit a three-run home run.

* Perry Hall 9, Southern-B 2: No. 5 Perry Hall left-hander Brian Ash (6-2) went the distance, striking three hits -- all singles by Southern's Jason Peters (3-for-3) in the 4A North Regional championship.

Roy Marsh, a center fielder, led the Gators' eight-hit attack against Southern's Ken Tolodziecki (5-3), going 2-for-2, with two walks, two RBI's, two steals and three runs scored.

DTC Perry Hall's Jimmy Stopper (2-for-4, two RBI's) had a run-scoring triple and scored twice, and Jason Essel (1-for-3, two RBI's) had a double and scored once.
