Wilde Lake choir wins grand championship

The Wilde Lake High School Choir of 115 voices won the grand championship at the FIEST-VAL in April at Disney World in Orlando, Fla.

Thirteen choirs from Virginia, New Jersey, Maryland, New York and Ohio competed in Madrigal performance, chamber choirs, mixed choirs, men's choirs, show choirs and gospel.

Wilde Lake's choirs entered five competitions and won first place in each with a superior rating.

The concert choir, Madrigal singers and beauty shop quartet won best overall performance.

Choir director Sandra Adkins won the award of distinction as director of the group.

The students won 15 trophies. James Toler won two trophies for best soloist in men's chorus and the mixed chorus.

Dylan Gentile won a trophy for best accompaniest.

The group will perform at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow in the Wilde Lake High School auditorium.
