Mother of two charged with felony child abuse

May 16, 1994

A Westminster woman accused of leaving her two children alone in her apartment for more than two hours Friday evening faces felony child abuse charges, according to court records.

The children, ages 4 and 1, have been placed in a foster home.

The mother's name was withheld to protect the children. She was being held at the Carroll Count Detention Center in lieu of $25,000 bond.

Westminster police report that neighbors found the older child in the hallway of their apartment building and notified police about 30 minutes later.

She was found crying, saying that her "mommy had run away," court documents said.

The younger child was found inside his mother's apartment.

The woman also was charged with reckless endangerment.
