Historic district panel needs 2 members

May 12, 1994

Sykesville officials are searching for volunteers interested in preserving the past for future residents.

The town Historic District Commission needs two residents to fill vacancies on its board.

The five-member commission reviews building plans for the historic district and takes care of local artifacts. Members also are planning the restoration of the Gatehouse in Cooper Park. The renovated building will serve as a museum and meeting place.

"We need to get people on these committees," Mayor Kenneth W. Clark told the Town Council on Monday. "If the commission can't function for lack of members, it will have to disband, and the council has to pick up the slack."

The commission meets at 7 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of the month at the Town House, 7547 Main St.

Information: 795-7728.
