Intruders wielding knives injure 2, flee with money

May 12, 1994

Two knife-wielding intruders forced their way into an apartment in the 4900 block of Brookwood Road early yesterday, cut two of the residents and fled with an undisclosed amount of money, county police said.

Charles Richard Plowman, 34, received a small cut to his arm and chest, police said. Cheri Lynn Ricci, 29, was cut on the neck. Barbara Ann Plowman, 36, Mr. Plowman's wife, was not harmed, police said. Neither Mr. Plowman nor Ms. Ricci, who shares the apartment with the couple, received medical treatment, police said.

According to police, Ms. Ricci answered a knock at the door about 1 a.m. by asking, "Who is it?" When a voice answered, "Garrett," she opened the door because she knows someone by that name.

The bandits forced their way in, threatened Mr. Plowman and the women and slashed Mr. Plowman and Ms. Ricci while demanding money, police said. The intruders fled after the victims gave them cash, police said.
