3-year-old girl severely injured by lawn mower

May 11, 1994

A 3-year-old Finksburg girl lost two toes and suffered severe lacerations on her right leg and foot yesterday when she was run over by a power lawn mower that neighbors said was operated by her 5-year-old sister.

A neighbor identified the victim as Emily Le Roy of the 3500 block of Pleasant Plains Road. The accident happened about 5:30 p.m.

The girl was flown to the Johns Hopkins Hospital Children's Center, said one of the paramedics from the Reese fire company who treated the girl while the ambulance crew waited for the state police helicopter that took her to Baltimore.

Emily was in critical condition last night, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Neighbors said the victim's 5-year-old sister, Audrey, was driving the mower in the road with the blades operating when the accident occurred.

State police from the Westminster barracks are investigating.
