Bring your mother to the Union Bridge Fire Company for breakfast Sunday.

The fire company will hold its annual Mother's Day breakfast from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

On the menu are pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage and sausage gravy, pudding, hominy, stewed apples, home fries, muffins, biscuits, orange juice and coffee.

"I think a lot of families bring their mothers out [to the fire hall] for Mother's Day," said Treasurer Earl Fritz. "They make it a family day."

He said each mother will receive a flower until supplies run out.

According to Mr. Fritz, the Mother's Day breakfast is the largest attended breakfast each year because of the family participation and because it is the last breakfast the fire company serves during the season.

"We expect 1,200 this year if it's a pretty day," he said.

The cost of the meal is $4.25 for adults, $2 for children 6-12, and free for children under 6.

The Union Bridge Fire Company is at 8 W. Locust St.

Information: 775-7422.

The menu's main entrees will consist of roast beef, fried chicken and chicken pot pie.

Cost of the dinner is $8 for adults, $4 for children 5-11 and free for children under 5.

The Johnsville United Methodist Church is at 11106 Green Valley Road, Route 75.

The Carroll County Pregnancy Center in Taneytown will hold its third annual walk-athon Saturday.

The five-mile walk will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine. Only severe thunderstorms would postpone the event until May 14.

The center provides free, confidential services to expectant women and girls facing crisis pregnancies, and to families in need. All walk-athon proceeds will be used toward these services.

Call the Bear-ly Used Boutique at 756-4393 for more information, or stop by the Pregnancy Center, at 3 York St., to pick up a pledge sheet.
