Navy tops Stony Brook, 12-6

Junior Rob Bailey and senior Jamie Slough each scored three goals as No. 11 Navy defeated Stony Brook, 12-6, yesterday at Dewey Field in Annapolis, keeping the Midshipmen's playoff hopes alive.

Navy (7-5) jumped to a 7-2 lead in the first quarter after Bailey scored two goals, Slough one and Chaz Bertrand two. Stony Brook held Navy scoreless in the second quarter while scoring on a goal by Chris Kollmer.

Slough scored back-to-back goals in the first seven minutes of the third quarter, widening the lead to 9-2. Courtney Wilson fired in his first goal of the day for the Mids with just under five minutes left in the third quarter.

Freshman Chris Messineo scored with 44 seconds remaining in the third and goals from Matt Long and Rob Bailey in the fourth sealed the victory for Navy.

Stony Brook was led by freshman Robb Aitchison with three goals and Kollmer with two goals and one assist.
