Towson's Beck throws no-hitter vs. Loch Raven

Towson starter Steve Beck struck out 12 batters as he no-hit visiting Loch Raven, 2-1, in a Baltimore County 1A-2A League baseball game yesterday.

Beck, who walked six, allowed an unearned run in the third inning on an error. Beck scored both Towson runs, including the game-winner on a single by Mike Wellein.

* Edgewood 3, C. M. Wright 2: Chris Finlay's two-out, two-strike double in the sixth drove in two runs, including the game-winner, as No. 17 Edgewood (7-4) defeated host and No. 5 C. Milton Wright (8-5) in a Harford County League game.

Senior right-hander Chris James (4-2) went all seven innings, striking out six.


* Arundel 1, Broadneck 0: Arundel sophomore Tara Kitchen struck out 16 batters, out-dueling Broadneck's Kristen Butner as she no-hit the visiting Bruins in an Anne Arundel County game.

Kitchen had a perfect game until the seventh when there was a passed ball on a third strike.

Butner, who pitched a complete-game one-hitter, allowed only a single to Ruth Wilson in third. Wilson eventually scored the game's only run on a wild pitch by Butner.
