Man, 26, is accused of raping girl, 11

A Harford County grand jury has indicted a 26-year-old Baltimore man accused of causing the pregnancy of an 11-year-old girl, court records indicate.

Derek Darez Hunt of the 1700 block of Llewelyn Ave. in the Clifton Park area formerly lived in Edgewood, where the alleged incidents occurred.

He was charged with rape, assault with intent to rape, child abuse and battery.

Mr. Hunt was arrested at his mother's home in Baltimore on March 24 and remains at the Harford County Detention Center in lieu of $250,000 bond.

According to court records and law enforcement authorities, the child's mother took her to a medical clinic where the pregnancy was confirmed.

She then contacted Sheriff's Office detectives.

At the time of his arrest, Mr. Hunt was was on probation for a parole violation after having served 18 months of a 10-year prison sentence for a 1987 conviction on robbery, theft and handgun charges.
