Jen Conner became the third member of Severna Park's volleyball team to accept a scholarship since the season ended when she signed with American University, a Division I school in Washington.

Last month, Susan Wren and Julie Kasprzak committed to West Virginia Wesleyan. All three players were selected to the All-Metro first team after helping the Falcons to their third consecutive 4A state championship.

A four-year starter, Conner moved from middle hitter to the outside this fall and recorded 202 kills. She also was 141-for-161 serving with 38 aces and played exceptional defense.

She considered offers from Tennessee, East Tennessee State, James Madison and Elon. Tennessee came closest to beating out American.

"I wanted to go south, but if I did that, I'd be far from home," she said. "Academically, American is better than any of the other schools, and the volleyball program is excellent.

"This has been so stressful. There were times that I wanted to sit down and forget everything, but now that it's over, it's a huge relief."
