Seefeldt suspended 7 days

The Pimlico stewards have suspended jockey Andrea Seefeldt for seven days for careless riding aboard Looming in Saturday's Federico Tesio Stakes at Pimlico Race Course.

Looming finished second in the Grade III race, but interfered with last-place finisher Wise Judgement, approaching the final turn. Jockey Wilfred Lozano checked his horse, who was dropping back after setting the early pace. The stewards disqualified Looming and placed him last.

Seefeldt said yesterday that she feels the suspension is unjustified, but doesn't plan to appeal it.

"I did bother the horse," Seefeldt admitted. "But he was already a dead horse. I've been in Lozano's shoes lots of times, riding a tired horse who was stopping and I just try to get out of everybody's way. It's the inconsistency of the [stewards'] decision that bothers me. What am I supposed to do? Play nice with the boys? It looked bad, I guess."
