Wilde Lake man is arrested on drug charges

A 23-year-old Wilde Lake man was arrested on cocaine and marijuana charges after Howard County police raided his condominium Thursday night.

Gerald Abbott, 23, of the 5500 block of Green Mountain Circle was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute cocaine in a drug-free school zone, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.

He was being held at the Howard County Detention Center on $160,000 bond after a bond hearing Friday morning.

Mr. Abbott was not home when officers from the Street Drug and Tactical sections entered the condominium at 10:50 p.m. Thursday. Police said they confiscated about one-fourth of an ounce of crack, marijuana and other drug-related items.

The suspect returned home during the raid, but police said he fled after seeing officers. He was caught and arrested after a short chase.
