Boston Red Sox -- Optioned OF Greg Blosser to Triple-A Pawtucket and recalled OF Bob Zupcic.

Houston Astros -- Announced the resignation of Ted Haracz, vice president of marketing.

Los Angeles Dodgers -- Signed P Joe Klink to a minor-league contract and assigned him to Triple-A Albuquerque; sent P Chan Ho Park to Double-A San Antonio; recalled P Omar Daal from Albuquerque.

Milwaukee Brewers -- Recalled OF Matt Mieske from Triple-A New Orleans; placed OF B. J. Surhoff on the 15-day disabled list with a lower abdominal strain.

New York Mets -- Acquired P Mike Cook from the Orioles and sent him to Triple-A Norfolk.

Cleveland Cavaliers -- Placed F Gary Alexander on the injured list with tendinitis in his left knee; activated G John Battle from the injured list.

Western Athletic Conference -- Named Karl Benson commissioner. Benson, who will succeed retiring Joe Kearney, had been commissioner of the Mid-American Conference.

Ball State -- Announced the resignation of Karen Parker, women's assistant basketball coach.

Jacksonville -- Named George Scholz head basketball coach.

Southeastern Louisiana -- Named John Lyles head basketball coach.

Atlanta Falcons -- Agreed to terms with WR Ricky Sanders, who had been with the Washington Redskins, on a two-year contract.

New England Patriots -- Re-signed S Terry Ray and G Mark Staten.

Philadelphia Eagles -- Re-signed OL John Hudson to a one-year contract.

San Diego Chargers -- Signed LB Terry Crews and RB Eric Boles; released T Darrell Hamilton.

CFL Colts (CFL) -- Signed LB Greg Patrick, OL Scott Miller, OL Andrew Oberg and K Steve Pinkerton.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats (CFL) -- Signed QB Timm Rosenbach, who had been released earlier yesterday by the NFL's Arizona Cardinals.

Las Vegas Posse (CFL) -- Signed G Jessie Harwick and OT Jon Garber.
