SHOOTING: Eastern District -- A 22-year-old resident of the 1400 block of Ashland Ave. was listed in good condition at Johns Hopkins Hospital after being shot during an attempted robbery in the 1700 block of Ellsworth St. Wednesday night. After the gunman searched the victim's pockets for money or valuables, the victim turned and was running away when the gunman shot him in the upper left leg. The gunman escaped.

BURGLARY: Central District -- Someone entered a house in the 200 block of W. Biddle St. through a window off the fire escape Wednesday and stole stereo equipment.

BURGLARY: Central District -- A VCR, stereo equipment and jewelry, all valued at more than $1,000, were stolen from a house in the 900 block of St. Paul St. Wednesday by someone who entered through an unlocked front door.

STOLEN CAR: Northern District -- A black and gold 1994 Jeep Cherokee with Maryland tags 45287M was stolen from the 100 block of Cotswold Road between Monday and Wednesday.

ASSAULT: Northern District -- Police were seeking a man who struck a resident of the 2800 block of Brookfield Ave. on the head, back and hands with a cane and then pointed a handgun at him during an incident Tuesday in the 5100 block of Sunset Ave.

SHOOTING: Western District -- A resident of the 2700 block of Parkwood Ave. was in the 1700 block of Gwynns Falls Parkway Tuesday when he was attacked by two men, one with a gun. During the incident, the victim was shot in the right shoulder. The two men escaped and the victim was treated at Sinai Hospital.

THEFT: Western District -- A resident of the 2200 block of Orem Ave. was in the 1000 block of N. Appleton St. Tuesday when someone stole his 26-inch mountain bike.

Baltimore County

THEFT: Parkville Precinct -- A gas-operated tiller and an edger, all valued at more than $1,200, were stolen from the front porch of Value Equipment in the 8200 block of Belair Road between Monday and Wednesday.

STOLEN CAR: Towson Precinct -- A white 1992 Chevrolet Corsica with Maryland tags SNW 938 was stolen from the parking lot at Towson Marketplace in the 800 block of Goucher Boulevard Wednesday.
