Detroit Tigers -- Placed P David Wells on the 15-day DL, retroactive to April 16, with an inflammed left elbow; recalled P Buddy Groom from Triple-A Toledo; optioned OF Danny Bautista to Toledo and recalled P Jose Lima from Toledo.

Houston Astros -- Announced the resignation of vice president of Astros marketing Ted Haracz.

Montreal Expos -- Sent OF Rondell White to Triple-A Ottawa; recalled P Rodney Henderson from Double-A Harrisburg.

New York Mets -- Named Randye Ringler director of marketing.

Seattle Mariners -- Placed 3B Edgar Martinez on the 15-day DL, retroactive to April 16, with a contusion of the right wrist; recalled IF-OF Brian Turang from an injury rehabilitation assignment with Double-A Jacksonville and activated him from the disabled list.

Texas Rangers -- Activated IF Jon Shave from the 15-day DL and placed him on waivers for the purpose of assigning him outright to Double A Oklahoma City.

San Francisco 49ers -- Traded DE Ted Washington to the Denver Broncos for a fifth-round draft pick; flipped draft picks with Denver in the third round with San Francisco getting the 85th pick overall and the Broncos the 97th overall.

Las Vegas Posse (CFL) -- Signed DE-LB Basil Proctor and DB Bruce Plummer.

Sacramento Gold Miners (CFL) -- Signed two rookie free agents, FB Rodney Dickerson and DB Robert Turner.
