School to hold awards event for seniors

Arundel Senior High School, 1001 Annapolis Road in Gambrills, is sponsoring a Senior Awards Assembly at 8:35 a.m. May 24 in the school auditorium. Parents are invited to attend.

Summer school is available for students who need to make up work, improve grades or prepare for functional tests. Courses will be offered at Broadneck High, Glen Burnie High and South River High.

Interested students must speak to their school counselors before June 11. Registration is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 11 and 12 at the above schools. Classes will begin July 14 and end Aug. 12. The fee for county residents is $125 a course.

Odenton Elementary School, 1290 Odenton Road, is sponsoring a Focus on Child Care program at 7 p.m. April 27 at the school. A representative from the county's Office of Child Care Administration will discuss licensing and regulations. Call 410-551-5208.

The Chesapeake Bay Country Wanderers will meet at 7 p.m. May 19 at Perry's Restaurant on Route 175 in Odenton.

The group promotes walking for enjoyment.

The O'Malley Senior Center, 1275 Odenton Road, will sponsor a program on women's health issues from 11:15 a.m. to noon May 10. The guest speaker is Lois Levine, a registered nurse with the Anne Arundel County Department of Health's Breast and Cervical Cancer Program. The public is invited to attend.
