Kansas City Royals -- Optioned OF Tom Goodwin to Triple-A Omaha. Activated P Rusty Meacham from the DL.

Philadelphia Phillies -- Placed P Tommy Greene on the 15-day DL with tendinitis in his right shoulder.

Basketball

NBA -- Suspended Los Angeles Lakers F James Worthy for one game and fined him $5,000, and fined Golden State Warriors F-C Chris Gatling $4,000 for their fight during Tuesday night's game.

Minnesota Timberwolves -- Placed F Tellis Frank on the injured list with an injury to the arch of his left foot. Signed C Andres Guibert for the rest of the season.

College

Arkansas-Little Rock -- Named Wimp Sanderson men's basketball coach.

Columbia -- Named Willy Wood men's track and field and cross country coach. Named Karen Reardon interim women's track and field and cross country coach.

Kean -- Named Patty Delehanty women's basketball coach.

Lamar -- Named David McKey women's basketball coach.

Loyola -- Named Brian Ellerbe men's basketball coach

Massachusetts -- Named Ted Roof defensive line coach and Terry Lantz secondary coach.

Navy -- Named seniors Victor Mickel and Brad Cougher as recipients of the RADM R. F. Marryott Basketball Award and the Charles Evans McDonough Memorial Cup, respectively. The Marryott award is presented to the Navy player who has demonstrated the strongest will to win and the desire to do his best for the team through team spirit. The McDonough award is presented to the Navy player deemed to have been the outstanding team player during the season.

Pittsburgh -- Named Tom Crean men's assistant basketball coach.

Seton Hall -- Announced the resignation of Sue Parler, softball coach. Named Dena Hendrickson softball coach.

St. Joseph's, Pa. -- Announced basketball guard Kevin Connor will transfer from the school after the completion of classes in May.

Syracuse -- Declared Erica O'Neill and Jana Strnadova ineligible for the tennis team for possibly violating NCAA rules.

Virginia Military -- Named Bart Bellairs men's basketball coach.

William Paterson -- Named Paul Darragh defensive coordinator.

Western Maryland -- Announced softball will be added as a varsity sport beginning in the spring of 1996.

Football

NFL -- Announced the league's salary cap went up by another $400,000 after the latest audit by the NFL Players Association set the figure at $34.6 million per team.

Houston Oilers -- Signed DT Glenn Montgomery.

Miami Dolphins -- Signed QB Bernie Kosar to a two-year contract.

New England Patriots -- Signed CB Maurice Hurst, WR Vincent Brisby, DE Bryan Hooks and DE Mario Johnson.

New Orleans Saints -- Agreed to terms with QB Wade Wilson.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers -- Signed OT Tim Irwin.

Washington Redskins -- Released QB Mark Rypien.

CFL Colts -- Signed WR Robert Henry, WR David Keaton, FB Sean Doctor, OT Neal Fort, LB Cornell Collier and slotback Marcus Goodwin.

PGA Tour -- Named Arnold Palmer recipient of the PGA's Distinguished Service Award for 1994.

St. Louis Blues -- Agreed to terms with F David Roberts on a multi-year contract. Recalled C Tony Hrkac from IHL Peoria.

Horse racing

Thoroughbred Racing Association -- Named Jeff Parrott manager and coordinator of the National Best Seven, TRA's weekly national wager.
