One suspect in robbery arrested in Martinsburg

One of two men wanted in the armed robbery of the Washington Heights Pharmacy on March 17 is being held on $50,000 bond after his arrest in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Westminster police believe the suspect was one of two men, both wearing ski masks, who entered the Airport Drive pharmacy, announced a holdup and forced two employees behind a counter where their ankles and wrists were bound with duct tape.

The robbers stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the register and drugs from a shelf before they ran from the store.

One of the employees was able to get free in about 15 minutes and notify police.

Robert Allen Coleman, 34, of Kimble Lane in Bowie was charged with robbery with a deadly weapon, robbery and two counts each of assault, battery and theft. He was arrested by West Virginia State Police after Westminster authorities received information that he had fled to Martinsburg.

The suspect waived extradition and was returned to Carroll County on Tuesday night.

* Westminster: A employee of the Westminster Inn, in the first block of S. Center St., reported he observed a man attempting to ignite the bushes at the rear of the hotel's restaurant Sunday night. The man fled and there was no damage. Police are continuing their investigation.

A Carroll County Times official reported that someone stole two newspaper boxes on Monday. The loss was estimated at $460.

An employee of The Sun for Carroll County reported the theft of a wallet from her purse on Tuesday. The loss was estimated at $38.

FIRE

* Westminster: Firefighters from Westminster were dispatched to 1 E. Main St. for a low pressure water detail at 11 a.m. Wednesday. They were out for nine minutes.
