Terps' Bosnic plans to transfer

COLLEGE PARK -- Nick Bosnic, a freshman reserve on the University of Maryland basketball team, said last night that he has asked to be released from his scholarship agreement in order to transfer to another school.

Bosnic said that he spoke to Maryland coach Gary Williams on Monday, and that he was assured that the release would come.

"I felt like I didn't get the opportunity," said Bosnic, who played in 28 of 30 games, averaging a little over three points and two rebounds in seven minutes a game.

Bosnic said he wasn't sure where he would go, but made it clear that the level of competition in the Atlantic Coast Conference didn't play into his decision.

He will become the third player to transfer in the past six months. Nemanja Petrovic left for St. Joseph's and John Walsh for Northeastern prior to last season.
