Teen charged as adult in shooting of 3

April 13, 1994

A 17-year-old Edgewater youth has been charged as an adult in the March 12 shooting of three people in the 400 block of Silver Run Road, county police said.

Wardell Weseley Johnson Jr. is accused of shooting Thomas Turner, 20, of the 300 block of Oakwood Road and John McMahon, 21, of the 500 block of Fern Road with a shotgun loaded with bird pellets. A 16-year-old girl also was injured.

All three were treated and released by Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Police said a party had been under way at a home on Silver Run Road and a brown Chevrolet had driven past several times when a youth got out and fired a shotgun at the victims, who were in the front yard.

The Johnson youth was charged with three counts of assault with intent to murder. He is currently being held at the county jail.
