A second man wanted in the March robbery of an Amoco gasoline station at Route 140 and Sandymount Road was arrested, charged and held on $10,000 bond yesterday.

Herman Filmore Costley III, 21, of the 800 block of Streaker Road, Sykesville, was charged with five robbery-related counts after his arrest.

Another man, Calvin LaMount Warfield, 21, of the 100 block of S. Court St., Westminster, was arrested the day of the robbery.

The victim recognized the robber as a former schoolmate, police said.

State police said two men entered the gasoline station about 3 a.m. March 27, wearing scarves around their faces as masks. One of the men walked to the cashier, demanding, "How much money is in the register?"

When the cashier answered there was only $20 in the cash drawer, the man replied, "You gotta have more than that" and pulled up his jacket to reveal the butt of a handgun, state police said.

The attendant recognized the man as a former high school classmate, police said.

The alleged gunman removed the scarf from his face and the other man did the same, according to police reports.

The two men went to one of the gasoline pumps and put $5 worth in their car, demanded three cartons of cigarettes, and left.

Mr. Warfield was released on $10,000 bond March 28.

Both men are charged with robbery, robbery with a deadly weapon, theft, robbing a business with a deadly weapon and assault with intent to rob, according to District Court documents.

Mr. Costley will have a bail review hearing today.
