May Fair promises day of fun, games and food

It will be a day of food, fun and entertainment on May 21 at Nichols-Bethel United Methodist Church.

The May Fair, on the church parking lot on Murray Road, will feature antique cars, artisans, clowns, games, face painting and balloons. The fair will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

To volunteer for this event, call Audrey Harris at 799-1041.

Tables can be rented for $10 each by calling the church office, 674-2272.

* Also on May 21, the Sunday School is sponsoring a roller skating party at the Bowie-Crofton Rink. The activity will run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is $2. The rink is on Route 3 in Crofton.

* The church is accepting registrations for fall classes. Class openings are available for 3-year-olds. For more information or registration, call 672-5084.


The Gambrills Teen Club, sponsored by the Gambrills Athletic Club, will hold a free seminar on financial aid for colleges and trade-technical schools on April 24.

The program, geared toward the parents of seventh- and eighth-graders, will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Fort Meade Retired Officers' Wives Club will hold a spring dance from 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. April 23 at the Fort Meade Officers' Club on Fort Meade. For information and reservations, call Norma Thompson at 987-4868.

The reservation deadline is April 19.


The O'Malley Senior Center, 1275 Odenton Road in Odenton, is sponsoring a dinner-dance from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. April 22 at the center. The evening will begin with a light supper followed by music by Ronnie and Stan. For reservations and more information, call the center at 222-6227 or 621-9515.

Reservations are required by Thursday.


The Howard L. Turner American Legion Post Auxiliary, 8068 Quarterfield Road in Severn, needs donations of cash and food for the North County Emergency Outreach Network.

The auxiliary regularly donates nonperishable food and part of the Golden Bingo fund-raisers to the center. The network provides food and cash to local needy residents. Bring your donations to the post home, or take them to the network at 302 Fifth Ave. in Glen Burnie from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays.
