Registration for kindergarten scheduled

"TC Countywide registration for prekindergarten and kindergarten children starts today.

Parents are required to show their child's birth certificate, immunization record and proof of residence (driver's license, gas or electric bill) to school officials.

The schedule at local schools will be:

Belle Grove Elementary School, 4502 Belle Grove Road, kindergarten registration from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Information: 222-6589.

Brooklyn Park Elementary School, 200 14th Ave., kindergarten registration from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Information: 222-6590.

Park Elementary School, 201 11th Ave., prekindergarten and kindergarten registration from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Information: 222-6593

The registration period will continue through Friday.

Belle Grove Elementary School news: A general PTA meeting will begin at 7 p.m. tomorrow in the multi-purpose room. Members will be asked to vote for officers for the 1994-95 school year.

* The sixth grade will be auditioning acts from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday for its talent show.

Brooklyn Park Elementary School PTA would like to extend a "thank you" to everyone in the community who donated their Giant receipts so that administrators and faculty can purchase computer and school equipment.

The Brooklyn Park Health Association will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Health Center, 300 Hammonds Lane.

Association meetings have been moved to the second Thursday of the month from the third Thursday.

The speaker will be J.S. Lee of Lee's Body Shop, who will discuss the auto repair business.

* Congratulations to the officers who were elected at the last association meeting: Cecelia Fabula, president; Larry McCormick, vice president; Helen Butler, treasurer; and Cecelia Olszewski, secretary.

The new board of governor are: Minnie Grady, Charles Johnson, Marie Johnson, Port Largent and Leonard Zeitschel.

In conjunction with National Library Week, the Brooklyn Park Library will present a magic show by "Mr. Spooky" from 7:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. April 19.

Brooklyn Park's own Ray Gayleard Jr. will delight and intrigue children between the ages of 3 and 10 with his tricks.

That day also will be "Silly Hat Day." The library staff is urging all visitors to use their imagination to don their silliest head gear.

The Belle Grove Improvement Association will meet from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Belle Grove Elementary School.

Nancy Talvik from the U.S. Postal Service will be the guest speaker.

Harbor Hospital Center is looking for applicants for its summer Junior Volunteer Program. Students must be at least 15 years old or have completed the ninth grade.

The Junior Volunteer Program is designed for high school and college students who would like to learn new skills and earn community service credits while contributing to the hospital and the community.

Brooklyn United Methodist Church news: Like everything else this time of the year, the church needs a good spring cleaning. Members are asked to come out early Saturday morning and help brush away the cobwebs and sweep away a winter's worth of debris.

* The church's vibrant youth group would like to expand its membership. The group meets from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Sunday. Information: 355-8740.

The Arundel Improvement Association will meet at 8 p.m. April 21.

Incumbent lawmakers will introduce themselves and answer questions.
