Mt. Hebron nails Hammond, 15-0, behind Joyce

Jenny Joyce pitched a one-hitter, striking out seven, leading visiting Mount Hebron (1-0, 1-0) past Hammond, 15-0, in a Howard County League game yesterday.

Kathy Kiersarsky went 2-for-3 with three RBIs for Mount Hebron, which scored in every inning except the first.

* Chapelgate 14, Greater Grace 3: Heather Davidson went 3-for-5 with three RBIs, helping host Chapelgate (2-0, 1-0) past Greater Grace (0-1, 0-1), in a Maryland Christian Athletic League game.

Faith Meisanger struck out 14 batters for Chapelgate, which did all of its scoring in the first three innings, including a nine-run third.

* Glenelg 7, South Carroll 6: Jodi Kielman hit two doubles and Robin Ruppalt also had a double, helping Glenelg (4-0) edge visiting South Carroll, in a non-league game.

Emily Kessler was the winning pitcher for Glenelg.

* Franklin 5, Lansdowne 4: Cindy Coleman had a triple, helping Franklin (3-1) defeat Lansdowne, in a Baltimore County 3A-4A League game.

Franklin scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh. Freshman catcher Jessica McGraw knocked in the winning run.

* Perry Hall 16, Dundalk 4: Sophomore center fielder Carrie Sieshad two triples and drove in three runs to lead Perry Hall (2-1) past Dundalk, in a Baltimore County 3A-4A League game.

* Howard 15, Wilde Lake 6: Senior center fielder Emily Moore had a double and a home run to lead Howard (1-2) to a victory over Wilde Lake, in a Howard County League game.

Bel Air 12, C. Milton Wright 3: Right-hander Amy Finlayson pitched a two-hitter, leading Bel Air (3-0) past C. Milton Wright (0-2), in a Harford County League game.

Danielle Rohde went 3-for-5 for Bel Air.

* Owings Mills 6, Hereford 0: Kristi Sachs and Melissa Mikuleach hit a triple each as Owings Mills (2-0) shut out Hereford (3-2), in a Baltimore County 1A-2A League game.

Freshman pitcher Alison Kleiner had nine strikeouts, and she had a single and contributed an RBI.

* Atholton 12, Oakland Mills 1: Kim Ruprecht had a grand slaas Atholton (4-1) beat Oakland Mills (1-2), in a Howard County League game.

Stacey Williams and Lisa Murphy scored a double each to help Atholton.

* Mercy 11, Catholic 10: Cory Kamen hit a two-out single in the seventh to drive in the winning run as visiting Mercy (3-2) edged Catholic (1-2).

Denise Holthaus hit a two-run double to tie the game before scoring the game-winning run on Kamen's single.

* Spalding 8, McDonogh 0: Rachel Synowski struck out nine and pitched a two-hitter as Spalding defeated McDonogh.

Overlea 26, Milford Mill 3: Overlea used 13 walks to jump out to a 16-0 first-inning lead en route to a victory over Milford Mill (0-2), in a Baltimore County 1A-2A League game.

* Loch Raven 5, Sparrows Point 2: Elizabeth Elliott hit a two-run double to break open a close game as Loch Raven beat Sparrows Point, in a Baltimore County 1A-2A League game.
