* Manchester: Firefighters from Manchester, Hampstead and Lineboro responded to the Long View Nursing Home in the 3300 block of Main St. in Manchester for the odor of smoke in the building at 4 a.m. Thursday. No fire was discovered, but an official at the nursing home said an electrician was checking for a possible faulty switch. None of the guests at the home had to be moved, the official said. Fire units were out for 30 minutes.

* Hampstead: Hampstead, Manchester and Westminster firefighters were dispatched to a chimney fire in a house in the 1700 block of Gablehammer Road at 11:43 a.m. Thursday. Units were out for one hour and 25 minutes.
