5 men arrested on drug charges during raid

Howard County police arrested four Columbia men and a Port Tobacco man Tuesday night and found suspected cocaine and marijuana during a raid at a Columbia townhouse.

The county's street drug and tactical sections searched the home in the 8900 block of Footed Ridge in the Jeffers Hill community at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

According to police, they found a plastic bag containing 7.7 grams of cocaine; a small vial of cocaine; a small bag of crack cocaine; marijuana; packaging materials and other drug paraphernalia.

The men were charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, cocaine possession and other drug charges.

William Havis Williams, 36, who lives at the Footed Ridge address, also was arrested on an outstanding Anne Arundel County warrant for battery.

He was released on his own recognizance Tuesday, a Howard District court commissioner said.

Keith Richard Burton, 19, was being held at the Howard County jail last night on $5,000 bond. Robert Andrew Roach, 19, of the 11200 block of Slalom Lane, also remained in jail on $3,500 bond.

Christopher Warddell, 20, of the 6900 block of Little Boots, was released early yesterday on $3,500 bond. Sean Miguel Young, 21, of the 8200 block of Woody Road in Port Tobacco, was released on an unsecured $3,500 bond.

* Kings Contrivance: 8800 block of Stonebrook Lane: A resident returning from a two-week-long vacation Sunday said jewelry had been stolen from the home during that time. Police are unsure how the burglar entered the residence, but noted that the victim's bed had been slept in.
