April 06, 1994

County police arrested two men early yesterday for allegedly robbing a 21-year-old man after he withdrew an undisclosed amount of money from an automated teller machine in Brooklyn Park.

Police charged Julian Sharpe, 31, of the 2500 block of LindeAve., Baltimore, and Steve R. Sherman, 36, of the 300 block of Mary Lou Ave., Glen Burnie, with armed robbery.

The victim, Wayne Lee Jenkins Jr., told police that he had been standing at the ATM at a First National Bank branch at Ritchie Highway and Hammonds Lane at 1 a.m. when two men walked up and threatened him with a gun.

Mr. Jenkins, whom police did not identify further, gave the men money. They fled in a 1982 Chevrolet Corvette, police said.

A police officer in the area, spotting two men running across the parking lot, followed the Corvette and stopped it on Ritchie Highway, the police report said.

The car's two occupants were arrested after the robbery victim identified them, police said. Police confiscated a BB gun from the car.
