Eric Larsen of Troop 75 is presented with Eagle Scout award

Eric Larsen, of Boy Scout Troop 75, was presented his Eagle Scout Award by Troop Leader Joel Meredith, at ceremonies last week at Christ Memorial Presbyterian Church, the troop's sponsor.

Eric, a member of the Order of the Arrow, has been on the staff of BSA Junior Leader Training Camp, the Baltimore Area Council Green Blaze Junior Leader Training Camp and has participated in programs at at the IMPEESA National Junior Leader Training Program in Virginia, the Florida National High Adventure Sea Base Camp and the Philmont High Adventure Scout Reservation in New Mexico.

He has been junior assistant scoutmaster, senior patrol leader and a member of the Venture Crew and Leadership Corps.

His Eagle Scout Service project was the restoration of Christ Church children's playground, re-landscaping the adjacent hillside and installation of a safety fence between the playground and hillside area.

Eric, the son of Angela and Don Larsen, has been in Scouting since 1984. A senior at Oakland Mills High School, he was named to The Sun for Howard County's All County Indoor Track Team this year. Eric also has been an honor-roll student/athlete since 1991, is a member of the National Honor Society, the Minds In Motion Scholar Athlete program, senior class treasurer and homecoming king.

Stevens Forest Nursery School's auction is Saturday, at 7 p.m., at the school.

There is a fantastic list of items for both the live and silent auction. The public is invited to attend and bid for Orioles tickets, a weekend at New York's Woodward Hotel, childrens' birthday parties at Gymnastics Plus and Enchanted Forest; handcrafted baskets, Toby's Dinner Theater tickets, dinners at Morgans and the CoHo Grill, and a Baltimore Zoo membership and many other interesting gifts and sports passes.

The auction funds will be used for equipment and supplies for the non-profit nursery school. Information: 750-7059.

Columbia Art Center in Long Reach Village Shopping Center is )) introducing a four-part parent and child workshop series.

The classes: printmaking, drawing and painting, clay and mixed media can be taken independently or as a series. The one-hour sessions in Studio I will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on April 12 and 26 and May 10 and May 24.

Thursday afternoon classes will be held 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on April 21, May 5 and 19 and June 9. Information and fees: 730-0075.

Peabody's Columbia Academy on Rout 108 in Oakland Mills village, is presenting two five-week programs for pre-schooler children.

Music Primer for Tiny Tots, ages 2 and 3, will be held on Saturdays, 10:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Introduction to Music, for ages 4 and 5, will be held Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.

"Faux Finish Picture Frames" will be taught by Diane Hall at Chaselle Learning Center, 9645 Gerwig Lane, Owen Brown Village.

Students will learn paint finish techniques for picture frames tomorrow from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and April 16, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

A three-week course, "Understanding Special Education: Parents and Educators Planning Together," sponsored by the county school system's Department of Special Education and the Parent Educational Advisory Program, will be held at the Columbia Presbyterian Church on Tuesday evenings, 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., April 12, 19 and 26.
