He also is on the advisory board at O'Malley and is the center's treasurer.

About the volunteer: Mr. Wagaman has been a VITA volunteer for nine years. He works on Mondays and Wednesdays at the O'Malley Center and at Annapolis on Tuesdays, averaging 12 to 15 hours a week.

Mr. Wagaman retired as a master sergeant from the Air Force in 1966, then worked for the National Security Agency for 18 years before retiring in 1984.

He has been married for 49 years.

Volunteer's comment: "I've been at O'Malley ever since they opened, since day one.

"I've been doing some people's tax forms for all nine years. Nine out of 10 times we do the whole tax form for people.

"Every year we have to take classes and pass, so we can continue to do this."

About the program: VITA's trained volunteers provide free tax assistance to elderly, low-income or handicapped residents. In Anne Arundel County, residents can get help with tax preparation at five senior centers: Arnold, South County, Pascal, O'Malley and Annapolis, and at the Severna Park Library.
