A neighborhood argument between teen-agers ended in bloodshed yesterday afternoon when a 14-year-old girl allegedly stabbed a 16-year-old to death outside a North Baltimore senior citizen's apartment, city police said.

Sylvia Watson, of the 2400 block of Callow Ave., was pronounced dead at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center at 1:51 p.m., nearly an hour after she was stabbed on a sidewalk in front of the Lakeview Tower Apartments, in the 700 block of Druid Park Lake Drive.

Agent Doug Price, a police spokesman, said Sylvia was arguing with the aunt of the 14-year-old when the girl stabbed her in the back several times with a knife.

The spokesman said the dispute with the aunt stemmed from a long-running argument among teens in the community. He did not know what those problems were.

"There was some kind of problem where neighborhood teens were not getting along," Agent Price said. "It culminated in a more serious altercation between the aunt and the victim."

Authorities said the 14-year-old girl may be charged today as an adult with first-degree murder.
