BALTIMORE CITY

* BURGLARY: Central District -- Someone pried open the front doors of two businesses in the first block of E. Lexington St. between 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. yesterday. Three cash registers were pried open and $650 taken from one business. The other was ransacked and an undetermined amount of property taken.

* AGGRAVATED ASSAULT: Central District -- A city man was charged with aggravated assault in connection with an incident in which a man was choked and his index finger bitten. The incident occurred between 4:30 a.m. and 5 a.m. yesterday in the 200 block of N. Charles St.

* ASSAULT: Central District -- A woman was arrested on assault charges in the stabbing of a man in the 200 block of N. Baltimore St. The woman was charged with cutting a man on the temple with a knife at 6:55 a.m. yesterday. The victim was released after hospital treatment.

* PURSE SNATCHING/ARREST: Southeastern District -- The purse of a woman in the 200 block of S. Ann St. was grabbed by a juvenile about 12:20 yesterday afternoon. The youth fled, with the woman in pursuit and screaming for help. Police said Harvey Sykes, of the 1800 block of E. Pratt St., caught the juvenile in the 200 block of S. Chapel St. and held him until officers arrived.

* SHOOTING: Southeastern District -- A man was in the 600 block of N. Port St. at 2:10 p.m. Saturday when shots were fired and he was wounded in both thighs. He was listed last night in good condition at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

* SHOOTING: Eastern District. A man was shot three times in the stomach in the 2100 block of E. North Ave. at 9 p.m. Saturday by an unknown assailant. The man was taken by ambulance to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he was in stable condition last night.

* BURGLARY: Eastern District -- Someone entered a business in the 1300 block of 20th St. Saturday night or Sunday morning through a hole in the wall that had been secured only by loose bricks and cardboard. A power saw valued at $60 was taken.

* ROBBERY: Eastern District -- A 16-year-old boy was approached by two males in the 1100 block of Forrest St. about 8:40 p.m. Saturday. One of the assailants pointed a handgun, and the pair took his jacket and $157 in cash.

* THEFT: Eastern District -- Someone removed a videocassette player valued at $200 from a third-floor bedroom of a home in the 1100 block of Forrest St. between 1 p.m. and 11 p.m. Saturday.

* BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Someone entered a home in the 3800 block of Bonview Ave. through an unlocked door between 3 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. Saturday and stole a .38-caliber handgun.

* ROBBERY: Northern District -- A pizza delivery man was in the 4300 block of Dewey Ave. at 9:55 p.m. Saturday when he was approached by a gunman and robbed of $400.

* BURGLARY: Northern District -- Someone broke a window to a showroom of a variety store in the 900 block of W. 36th St. between 6 p.m. Saturday and 9:30 a.m. yesterday and removed a cordless telephone, baseball cards and a headset. The loss was estimated at $480.

* ASSAULT: Northern District -- Someone struck a man in the head with a wooden board at 10:05 a.m. yesterday in the 500 block of E. 27th St. A suspect was arrested.

* ASSAULT: Western District -- A woman was arrested on charges of stabbing a man with a pair of scissors in the 1400 block of Mosher St. about 7:20 p.m. Saturday. The victim was not seriously injured.

* BURGLARY: Western District -- Someone broke into a home in the 3000 block of Auchentoroly Terrace about 7 p.m. Saturday and stole a radio, a cassette player, cleaning supplies and other merchandise.

* ASSAULT AND ROBBERY: Western District -- Two women got into an argument in the 2700 block of W. Baltimore St. Saturday evening. One of the women grabbed the other by the throat, struck her in the face and grabbed her purse containing $15.

* CARJACKING: Western District -- A man stopped his car in the 2400 block of Reisterstown Road at 12:50 a.m. yesterday to give a ride to two men who asked if he was a "hack," or unlicensed cabbie. But one of the purported customers put a gun to the driver's ribs, and forced him out of the 1982 Toyota.

* SHOOTING: Western District -- A man was arrested on charges of shooting another man in the 2400 block of W. Franklin St. at 1:30 a.m. yesterday. The victim was released after hospital treatment.
