Bluebirds upset No. 12 Lions

Earl Henson scored the winning run on a passed ball in the fifth inning as visiting Kenwood upset No. 12 Dulaney, 3-2, in a Baltimore County 3A-4A League baseball game.

Bluebirds starting pitcher Joe Culver got the complete-game victory, needing only to throw 79 pitches as he scattered five hits.

Kenwood (1-1) had 10 hits, all singles. Brian Markowski of Dulaney (0-2) hit a double, the game's only extra-base hit.

* Eastern Tech 10, Patapsco 9: Tom Bialozynski's single in the bottom of the seventh produced the winning run as Eastern Tech edged No. 9 Patapsco in a nonleague game.

L Glenn Umbarger hit two doubles, and Bob Custer went 4-for-5.

* Calvert Hall 6, Riverdale Baptist 4: Junior left-hander Andy Bair struck out nine in 6 2/3 innings to lead top-ranked Calvert Hall (1-0) past Riverdale Baptist in a nonleague game. Bair hit a two-run home run in the third to give the Cardinals a 3-0 lead.

* Patterson 13, Southwestern 3: Three players went 2-for-3 and combined for five RBIs to lead No. 14 Patterson (1-1) over visiting Southwestern (0-1) in a Baltimore City 4A League game. Earl Smith and Mike Burrows each went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for the Clippers. Scott Stone, a junior catcher/first baseman, went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Boys lacrosse

* Boys' Latin 10, Episcopal (Pa.) 2: Scott Hochstadt scored three goals and added one assist as No. 5 Boys' Latin (3-0) defeated visiting Episcopal of Philadelphia.

* Mount St. Joseph 10, C. Milton Wright 2: Senior attackman Matt Hipszer scored three goals and added an assist as No. 8 Mount St. Joseph (2-0) downed visiting C. Milton Wright in a nonleague game.

Girls lacrosse

* Towson 22, Parkville 7: Kristin Carey had a game-high 11 points to lead host Towson past Parkville in a nonleague game. Carey, a senior attackmen, scored eight goals and distributed three assists.

* Maryvale 11, McDonogh 5: Megan Doyle scored four goals and had four assists as Maryvale (4-0) beat host McDonogh (0-1). Bridget Greenawalt added three goals and two assists for Maryvale.

Softball

* Institute of Notre Dame 8, Mercy 3: Kristan Ehrman, a junior shortstop, hit a a triple as No. 7 IND (1-0) beat visiting Mercy (0-1) in a Catholic League game.
