Kevin O'Connor's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth inning scored Kurt Weitzel with the winning run, lifting No. 13 Centennial (1-0) to a 2-1 win over No. 4 Glenelg (0-1) in a Howard County League baseball game yesterday.

Weitzel allowed five hits over eight innings, striking out four and walking one.

* Bel Air 4, Patterson 3: Chris Countess scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth as host Bel Air (1-0) edged No. 14 Patterson (0-1) in a non-league game.

* Loch Raven 16, Milford Mill 0: Chris Allen and Joe Russell combined for a five-inning no-hitter as Loch Raven (1-0) defeated visiting Milford Mill (0-1) in a Baltimore County 1A-2A League opener.

* McDonogh 7, Navy Prep 2: Dennis Badham went 4-for-4 with three RBIs, and Michael Ginsberg struck out seven, leading host and No. 5 McDonogh (3-0) past Navy Prep.

* Northeast 11, John Carroll 2: Visiting No. 18 Northeast assembled back-to-back four-run innings to defeat John Carroll (0-2) in a non-league game.

* Perry Hall 14, Woodlawn 4: Brian Smetana had four RBIs and Chris Ude, Jim Stopper, Paul Kansler and Brandon Zimmerman contributed two RBIs each to lead host and No. 7 Perry Hall (1-0) to a season-opening victory over Woodlawn (0-1) in a Baltimore County 3A-4A League game.

* Poly 5, Dunbar 2: Kevin Roycroft pitched a one-hitter, leading Poly (1-0) past Dunbar (0-1) in a Baltimore City 2A-3A League opener.

* Eastern Tech 5, Kenwood 4: Chuck Buckland hit a game-winning double in the bottom of the seventh to pace Eastern Tech over Kenwood.

Softball

* Franklin 5, Dundalk 1: Melissa Wenderoth went 3-for-4 and Stacy Lotterer went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, helping Franklin (1-0) past visiting and No. 13 Dundalk (0-1) in a Baltimore County 3A-4A League game. Kara Wingate struck out 11 batters for Franklin.

* Towson 6, Sparrows Point 5: Keri Dunphy's infield hit with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning scored Jessica Owens, lifting Towson (1-0) over visiting Sparrows Point (0-1) in a season-opening Baltimore County 1A-2A League game.

* Owings Mills 9, Catonsville 8: Nikki Winik had a double in Owings Mills' (1-0) season-opening victory over Catonsville (0-1), a Baltimore County 1A-2A League game.

Girls lacrosse

* Mount de Sales 21, North County 1: Lisa Banbury had six goals and Amy Buck added five goals and two assists as host Mount de Sales (3-0) defeated North County in a non-league contest.

* Mercy 11, Towson Catholic 5: Mercy (1-0) scored six first-half goals en route to victory over host Towson Catholic (0-1).

Boys lacrosse

* Curley 8, Joppatowne 1: Chris Coker scored three goals and had an assist, leading Curley (2-0) over Joppatowne (0-1) in a non-league game.

* Franklin 5, Eastern Tech 4 OT: Jason Harris scored two goals as Franklin (1-0) passed Eastern Tech (0-1) in overtime in a Baltimore County 3A-4A League game.

* Friends 6, Calvert 5 OT: Adam Dougherty scored four goals as Friends (1-0) edged Calvert (1-1) in overtime in a non-league game.

* McDonogh 7, Kincaid (Texas) 1: Brad MacHamer scored a game-high five goals and had one assist as McDonogh (2-2) beat Kincaid.
