7 to be considered for District bench

Seven lawyers' names were submitted to Gov. William Donald Schaefer yesterday by the Trial Courts Judicial Nominating Commission for the District Court judgeship opening with the March 31 retirement of Judge Donald M. Lowman.

After interviewing 25 applicants, the commission selected: Walter S. B. Childs, an Annapolis lawyer and former assistant state's attorney; Mareen L. Duvall Jr., an Annapolis lawyer and former assistant state's attorney; county Public Defender Alan R. Friedman; Martin B. Lessans, a Glen Burnie lawyer and former president of the county bar association; Assistant State's Attorney Frederick M. Paone; Juvenile Court Master Essom V. Ricks Jr.; and county Administrative Hearing Officer Robert C. Wilcox.
