MINNEAPOLIS -- Seattle SuperSonics guard Ricky Pierce is scheduled to undergo surgery today to remove a bone spur on the left foot.

Pierce, 34, is expected to be out four to six weeks, and six weeks from today is the first game of the NBA playoffs.

"I don't feel good about this," coach George Karl said.

"Hopefully, he'll be sore in the first round of the playoffs and fine in the second."

The ailment has caused Pierce, a 12-year veteran, to miss 10 games this season, including six of the past 10.

He has played in 46 games, averaging 14.2 points, and is among the top 10 in free-throw shooting (.886).
