Outlook: The Capitals ended a six-game winless streak with Tuesday's 5-4 overtime victory against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Stars have the third best record in the Western Conference, but are 1-4-2 in their past seven. This will be their first game since they were shut out by New Jersey on Sunday. The Stars are led by Mike Modano, who has a career-high 40 goals. Dallas G Andy Moog hasn't won in four starts. The Capitals will go with G Don Beaupre. Washington RW Pat Peake (cracked rib), D John Slaney (sprained ankle) and G Rick Tabaracci (sprained knee) are out. Dallas is missing only D Mark Tinordi (broken leg). Yesterday, the Capitals picked up C Tim Bergland (six goals, five assists in 50 games) on waivers from Tampa Bay. Bergland, who had played parts of three seasons with the Capitals, will join the team for Sunday's game against the Lightning in Orlando, Fla.
