Boston Red Sox -- Agreed to a two-year, $7.3 million contract extension with OF Mike Greenwell. Greenwell, who could have become a free agent after this season, gets $3.6 million in 1995 and $3.7 million in 1996. If he's traded, his 1994 salary increases to $4 million from $3,075,000, his 1995 salary increases to $4.2 million and his 1996 salary increases to $4.4 million.

Cincinnati Reds -- Assigned OF R. J. Reynolds and OF Mark Merchant to minor-league camp.

New York Yankees -- Sent P Rafael Quirico, P Jose Musset and C Jorge Posada to minor-league camp for reassignment.

St. Louis Cardinals -- Announced that the contract of 1B Rod Brewer had been purchased by the Seibu Lions of the Japanese League.


Auburn -- Promoted SID David Housel to athletic director.

Catawba -- Named Jim Baker men's basketball coach.

Los Angeles Raiders -- Matched the Denver Broncos offer for WR Tim Brown.

Miami Dolphins -- Named John Gamble strength coach.

New York Jets -- Named Steve Trimble defensive assistant-quality control.

Phoenix Cardinals -- Agreed to terms with RB Larry Centers.

San Diego Chargers -- Signed C Courtney Hall and P Scott McAlister. Terminated their rights to DT Blaise Winter.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats (CFL) -- Signed WR Kelvin Means and DB Roger Hennig.

NHL -- Suspended New York Rangers C Sergei Nemchinov for eight games and fined him $500 for hitting Florida Panthers D Brian Benning during a game on March 15 and suspended New York Rangers C Mike Hudson for 10 games and fined him $500 for hitting Pittsburgh Penguins D Kjell Samuelsson with a two-handed swing in a game on March 13.

New York Rangers -- Recalled c Todd Marchant from AHL Binghamton.

Pittsburgh Penguins -- Recalled F Mike Needham and F Markus Naslund from IHL Cleveland.


MILL -- Named Thunder G Kevin Bilger Player of the Week after made 39 saves in a 12-10 victory against the New York Saints on Saturday.
