$80,000 taken from vacation home

March 16, 1994

A vacant Carvel Beach vacation home was ransacked and about $80,000 in property and money were taken in the past several weeks, county police reported.

Maurice Tillery, 81, told police that he arrived at his Carvel Beach Road home Monday and found the windows open and the interior a shambles. Mr. Tillery said a safe with money and antique coins was missing along with an antique Colt .45 handgun, three cigar boxes of silver dollars and other undetermined property.

Mr. Tillery of the 500 block of East Fort Ave. in Baltimore told police he left the house locked and the windows closed. Investigators do not know how the burglars entered.

Officers questioned the neighbors, who said they did not notice anything unusual.
