1 Hammond (record: 24-1, 200 points) -- Last week's ranking: 1. The Golden Bears clinched their first Howard County League championship outright with a 58-42 victory over Mount Hebron on Saturday. Hammond then won its second Class 2A state title in three years by routing South River, 84-50, in a semifinal Friday, and Frederick County's Middletown, 59-41, in the title game Saturday.

2 Western (23-2, 190) -- Last week's ranking: 2. The Doves won their first state championship by defeating Prince George's County's Oxon Hill, 60-45, in a Class 4A state semifinal on Thursday, and Sherwood of Montgomery County, 61-48, in the championship game on Saturday.

7 Annapolis (19-7, 134) -- Last week's ranking: 8. Making their first appearance in the state semifinals since 1982, the Panthers lost to Sherwood, 62-55, in a Class 4A semifinal Thursday.

8 Fallston (21-1, 132) -- Last week's ranking: 6. The Cougars suffered their first defeat of the season, a 45-30 loss to Middletown in a Class 2A state semifinal Friday.

9 Towson (20-1, 118) -- Last week's ranking: 7. Season over.

10 Mount Hebron (15-8, 109) -- Last week's ranking: 10. The Vikings lost to Hammond, 58-42, in a regular-season game Monday that had been postponed from February due to bad weather.

11 Randallstown (20-3, 107) -- Last week's ranking: 9. The Rams lost to Howard, 58-45, in a semifinal game Thursday.
