Edgewater shooting leaves 3 injured

March 15, 1994

Three people were injured Saturday night when a gunman opened fire in the front yard of a home, county police said. A 16-year-old was later arrested and charged as a juvenile with assault with intent to murder.

Andrew McMahon, 21, Thomas Turner, 19, and a 16-year-old girl were in the front yard of a home in the 400 block of Silver Run Road in Edgewater when a shotgun was fired at them at 11:50 p.m., the police report said.

Officer Terry Crowe, police spokesman, said the victims were at a party when a brown Chevrolet drove past several times before stopping a short distance from the house.

Several people got out of the car and started walking toward the home, and one of them started firing the shotgun, Officer Crowe said. The group then got back into the car and left, he said.

Mr. Turner, of the 300 block of Oakwood Road, Mr. McMahon, of the 500 block of Fern Road in Riva, and the 16-year-old, whom police would not identify, were treated at Anne Arundel Medical Center and released, Officer Crowe said.

The shotgun was packed with birdshot, Officer Crowe said.

Witnesses led police to a 16-year-old Davidsonville boy, who was arrested Sunday.
