Officials investigate office arson

March 14, 1994

Annapolis fire officials are investigating the second arson in the past six months at a West Street law office.

The fire at Wetherill and Cronin law offices, 198 West St., was discovered about 1:30 a.m. Thursday when the fire alarm at a building next door sounded.

Firefighters arrived and saw smoke pouring from the building's first floor.

The fire was brought under control in 20 minutes.

Police estimated the fire caused about $25,000 worth of damage. Fire officials say they believe someone broke into the building and started the fire on the first floor.

Sept. 1, someone set fire to the law office of Darrell L. Henry at 1205 West St. That case is still under investigation.
